28th Sunday in Ordinary Time                                  9th October 2005

HOW ARE WE RESPONDING?  By Baptism, we have been invited into the kingdom of God. Our Eucharistic celebration today should recall that invitation and alert us to how we are responding.  Many more before us have been called to the feast but failed to stay.

“THIS  PERFECT  LIFE  With the Most Holy Trinity- this community of life and love with the Trinity, with the Virgin Mary, the angels and all the blessed – is called “heaven”.  Heaven is the ultimate end and fulfilment of the deepest human longings, the state of supreme definitive happiness”. (Catechism of the Catholic church No. 1024).

OCTOBER  IS  THE  MONTH  OF  THE  ROSARY:  Families are encouraged to recite the Rosary during October.  Through the meditations of the complete rosary, one recalls and impresses on the mind the chief mysteries of the Christian religion: the mysteries of our Redemption, the great mysteries of Jesus and His Mother united in joys, sorrows, and triumphs.  The twenty mysteries are known as “The Joyful,” “The Sorrowful,” “The Glorious,” and “The Luminous”,  added by the late Pope John Paul 11 in 2003.  We pray: “that we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through Christ our Lord, Amen.”

POPE’S  INTENTIONS  FOR  OCT:  1. That the advances of secularised society not be a cause for the discouragement of Christians, but rather an occasion for the trustful exercise of faith and hope.  2.  That the faithful express their support for missionary activity not only through prayer but also through financial contributions.
