anniversary of the death, in the year 506AD, of the Patron Saint of our Diocese
of Clogher. The celebrations begin with a Week of Prayer in each parish,
beginning on St Patrick’s Day and ending with a special Mass on 24th
March, (the feast of Macartan), in the Parish Church. The whole Diocese will
gather in the Cathedral of St.Macartan in Sunday 26 March at 3.00pm.for
the Diocesan celebration.
COLLECTIONS: Weekly
Envelopes- €1,974. Parish Renovations-€1,031
New
Offertory Envelopes: Many thanks to all those
who helped sort and deliver the envelopes. You will notice that there is no
second envelope (Parish Renovations) on the first Sunday of each month. We hope
that this will encourage all parishioners to increase their financial
support to our priests. In addition, the Easter Dues collection is
being re-introduced in order to address this problem. It is the responsibility
of the people of the parish to provide a reasonable income for their priests.
Their income is derived from the 1st Sunday collections plus Easter
Dues, November Dead Lists, Christmas Offerings and the stipends given for
Baptisms, Weddings & Funerals. The total sum being divided among the
priests of the parish. We appreciate the generosity of so many people and we call
on all parishioners with an income to support the priests on the 1st
Sunday and the upkeep of the parish on the other Sundays of the month.
Envelopes handed into other churches in the diocese do come back to this
parish. The Financial Statement for 2005 was distributed with the envelopes and
more copies are available in the porches of each church.
“GOD
IS LOVE” (1 John 4:16): More copies of the simplified and abridged
version of “Deus Caritas Est.”, the first Encyclical Letter of
Pope Benedict XVI, are available in our churches this weekend. Price €2.50
