PARISH OF CLONTIBRET NEWSLETTER

Fr Paudge McDonnell PP 042-9740121; Canon Philip Connolly PE 042-9741239.

29th January 2006      4th Sunday in Ordinary Time

A PROPHET: A Prophet speaks on behalf of God. In the Hebrew Scriptures a Prophet is not primarily a person who predicts the future but one who speaks the word of God for today, In today’s Gospel, Jesus speaks with authority because he is sent by God. The Church speaks with authority because it continues the work of Christ; it has a prophetic role in today’s world.
