KEEPING THE BALANCE: Today’s passage from Mark’s Gospel teaches us an important lesson about our relationship with God- it must be rooted in experience and in the joy of knowing that we are loved unconditionally. Without this experience, religion becomes joyless, fussy and even cruel.

LENT: The season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday 1st. of March, which is a day of Fast and Abstinence. The word Lent comes from the Old English word ‘Lengten’ (the lengthening of the days) an old word for Springtime. The beginning of new life. In Lent, we begin our new life of faith, which springs from the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. We prepare our selves for the New Life by the exercise of the pillars of faith, Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving.HolyMass will celebrated in the three parish Churches All  Saints,10.00am. St.Michaels and St.Marys 7.30pm.. with the distribution of Ashes.

 

SICK: The sick of the Parish will be visited in their homes in the coming week. Clontibret area, Wednesday 1st.March.Doohamlet & Annyalla areas Friday 3rd.March

 

ST MACARTAN: This year we celebrate the 1,500.anniversary of the death, in the year 506AD, of the Patron Saint of our Diocese of Clogher.The celebrations will begin with a week of prayer in each parish. Beginning on St.Patricks Day and ending with a special Mass on the 24th.of March (the feast of Macartan) in the Parish Church. The whole Diocese will gather in the Cathedral of St.Macartan in Sunday 26th.of March at 3.00pm.for the Diocesan celebration.

 

Information night: All those interested in taking part in the parish celebration of the 1,500 anniversary of St.Macartan are invited to an information night in St.Macartans College Monday 27th. Feb’ 8.00pm.

 

NEW PRIEST: We are pleased to announce that Bishop Duffy has appointed Fr Michael Gilsenan SScc, a native of Magheracloone, to minister in the parish. He will be based at St Mary’s.

 

NEW OFFERTORY ENVELOPES sets will be sorted for distribution in Cremartin GFC Centre on this Monday, 27 Feb at 8pm. We need volunteers from all three areas to help label, sort and distribute the boxes. Please don’t wait to be asked!
