YEAR OF THE EUCHARIST- SYNOD OF BISHOPS: The Synod of Bishops of the Church begins a 3-week meeting in Rome today with the theme: The Eucharist: Source and Summit of the Life and Mission of the Church.  Pope Benedict XVI has asked that all Catholics feel involved in this event, through prayer and reflection. In particular, he asks for an increased and fervent participation in the Eucharist in every community and for greater respect for the sanctity of the Lord’s Day, Sunday, a holy day for all Christians. The Synod will close on Mission Sunday, 23rd October, thus bringing the Year of the Eucharist, proclaimed by our late Holy Father John Paul II, to a close.

OCTOBER- MONTH OF THE ROSARY: The parish has provided some free literature at the front porches to help families recite the rosary. Please take one and try to recite the Rosary as a family during October. Through the meditations of the complete rosary, one recalls and impresses on the mind the chief mysteries of the Christian religion: the mysteries of our Redemption, the great mysteries of Jesus and His Mother united in joys, sorrows, and triumphs. The twenty mysteries are known as "The Joyful," "The Sorrowful," "The Glorious," and "The Luminous” added by Pope John Paul II in 2003. We pray: “that we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through Christ our Lord, Amen.
