NEXT SUNDAY is the Feast of Christ the King: It will be the last Sunday of the Church’s year. Pope
Pius XI instituted the feast in 1925. Readings: Ez
34:11-12,15-17; Ps 22; 1 Cor 15:20-26,28; Mt 25:31-46. Next Sunday therefore
sees us complete the cycle of Matthew’s Gospel. From the following Sunday we
commence the reading of Mark’s Gospel.

FEASTS: Mon 14th- St Laurence O Toole. Archbishop of Dublin
from 1162. He died in 1180 at Eu in Normandy while seeking to make peace
between Henry II and Irish leaders. Tues 15th- St Albert the
Great. Bishop and Doctor of the Church he lived 1206-1280. Patron of
Scientists. Weds 16th- St Margaret of Scotland. 1045-1093.
Wife of Malcolm III, King of Scotland. Helped to reform the Church through her
example. Thurs 16th- St Elizabeth of Hungary. Queen of
Hungary at the age of 14, widowed and exiled at 20. Franciscan Tertiary until
her death in at 24 in 1231.
